As many of you know I saw EJ the other day. Classically we went to a bar (which closed @ 2am...stupid LA) and then headed off to watch the art of strip dancing...and by that i mean we drunkenly stumbled into a purple and pink neon looking "titty bar" on Sunset. Great times LA. It was followed by eating ginormous burgers at the famous Mel's drive in...also on sunset. mmm delicious. I had to wake up and go to work the next day which was not as fun. some of you already heard this story. if you are one of those ppl then just skip ahead to the fire story. thanks.
Anyway, i thought you should all know that california is burning down...from LA to San Diego. the fires even officially jumped the freeway in my hometown of Temecula so the valley is covered in ash and ppl will have to evacuate some areas. Right now LA is totally on fire...but its mainly malibu so only the rich are losing their homes...so im not sure then how bad i feel for them. Last night driving from Temecula to LA was insane. Winds were up to 70mph and there was so much dirt and smoke in the air that i could not see 10 ft in front of my car. I thought it was going to blow over. I was in chino though so there was no way in hell i could stop and wait it out. I made it home alive...barely...but it was fucking insane. I hope you are all having fun in your respective cities...write in the blog more losers!!!
love, T

The Champ is Here
Hey guys,
Sorry for sucking and never writing. I miss yall. Oh, before I move on to another paragraph and forget, Carrie, how's the Latina seminar going? Lot of real women with curves? It sort of makes me think of my relationship with Jennie, bc white as I am, I'm definitely more into Asia than she is, and it seems like you may just become the mamacita I never was nor will be.
Um, so I guess I'm supposed to tell everybody about Japan. Anyway, the nuts & bolts shit first: I'm here at Tokyo University for a year or thereabouts as a "researcher," which just means that I can float around and do nothing, or play in the library and read many things, or audit classes and so on. It's a pretty sweet deal, but I'm trying to audit 3 classes (on Japanese foreign policy, domestic politics, and some other poli science shit TBA later) while I research. I think the deal with this fellowship, like the whole raison d'etre for my trip, is that I'm supposed to eventually TALK to people about the project. There's like a talk next week w/ the Japanese ambassador to Korea, so I might try to nag him into being my friend. To help me on my journey, I have a professor advisor, who's awesome - he studied at Berkeley and is like totally Americanized and slouchy, plus he has a ridiculous office stuffed with books and pictures of monkeys and the Blues Brothers -- and anyway, I also have a "tutor," a UTokyo grad student who's supposed to be like something between a guardian angel and a babysitter. His name's Yuki, and he's tremendously nice and polite, and seems like quite a dork. There's probably little danger of me jumping into a passionate affair with him at present, but if shit gets boring and I do something rash out of desperation, I'll let you guys know.
As for the less academic shit, I'm going to take some dance classes at the gym, probably will take a part time job teaching English to little kindergarten brats, and I'm trying to find some cooking classes. I live in this ugly dorm, located on the 2nd UTokyo campus, so it's like an hr commute to the main one, switching trains 3 times in the mad rush of suit-wearing dudes and girls w/ silly outfits and weird haircuts. The room is so small that they decided to make a bathroom with a swivel sink - so if you're on the toilet it swings right, against the opposite wall, and if you're showering it swings left to cover the toilet and leave you some space to stand. It's ingenious but horrifying at the same time. There's a mini-kitchen in the room with one burner, but I just bought a rice cooker, so my future looks rosy.
I've been going out to do random errands with my friend Dan (the one Taryn and Carrie thought was obsessed with me last year, but was really just on his way out of the closet) almost every night, which works out well, bc we usually stop for drinks, sushi and other crap along the way, so for sight seeing it's worked out really well. I do wish there were more people here I knew -- the other exchange students are mad weird, no surprise -- but we'll see how the situation goes as the year progresses and all that shit.
Hope everybody's well, you're most definitely missed!!!

Ni-men Hao Ma
Hehehehe....I thought I might try a whole post in Chinese, but that would be cruel, a grave waste of time, and would expend basically all the 20 words I know in Chinese. I suck. Oops. I have to run now, but I'll post later, and make it totally Asian.
Does anybody watch So You Think You Can Dance, btw? My efforts to watch the finale yesterday were cruelly stymied, and I'm dying to find a copy of it.
Sucky post. I'll make up for it later. How's the house-warming party? Ohhhh it sounds like such cuteness. Miss you guys :-P

ID THEFT BLOWS
I GOT A LETTER!!! We should have known...if someone was gonna get fucked it would def be us!! Stupid yale losing my identity. Apparently no we have to call all our CC companies etc. LAME!
Cape Cod sounds fun Carrie...I am at work right now and still bored. I don't know how I feel about Hollywood and celebrity representation. I'd say more but CAA would kill me...seriously!!
If anyone talks to Dre tell her to write in the Blog!

good news: i just got back from cape cod. it was a good week of the usual new england vacation fun: beach, lake, sailboats, drive-in, mini-golf, lobster and oysters. john came with me for the first couple days to save me from my family. bad news: i just got a letter from dean salovay saying that a computer has been stolen from the yale dean's office that has my name and social security number on it. while "the nature of the theft indicates to us that there is little danger that your social security no. has been or will be misused, you may want to take some or all of the following precautions..." sweet. do they not lock the deans office? i already had MY laptop stolen, and now Dean Salovays? wtf? did anyone else get a letter? i was actually on the yale campus yesterday on my way back to nyc from cape cod (stopped at the bookstore for some obnoxious yale school supplies to rock at columbia). i should have stopped the new haven pawn shops...

Dispatches from the workforce
Sweet. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Barack Obama, I am not permitted to express publicly any thoughts which are not consistent with his, and Barack Obama doesn't have any thoughts about any of you. Ipso facto, I was not permitted to post on this site until Taryn privatized it. Now I am ready to BLOG!!
I am sitting here at Obama for America global headquarters, having just emerged from my second four-hour meeting of the last three days. In this meeting we learned how to plan later meetings, and also how to use action verbs like "identify" and "develop."
Ack, gotta go.

hey- so i am just writing something quick before i have to go to the doctor :( but i too want to support the blogging, even tho before this i swore to myself i would never blog. i havent been doing much this week because i just got back from europe and cant seem to overcome the jetlag. luckily the last harry potter book kept me busy (don't cringe teddy, they're amazing) as well as seeing the movie....twice... to balance that out i guess ill say that last night i went to this belgian place that has 1/2 price belgian beers on mondays and i felt super cool being able to introduce ppl to new belgian beers --some that they should have already known about ie chimay, and some more random ones like delerium tremors and charles quint. i just got a voicemail from jayson who is in the airport and just said bye to lacey, so he sounded awful...its all very upseting... esp after talking to him yesterday it hit me again that we're not going back to yale. suckville. ive been getting all this stuff from columbia in the mail and doing little things (like ID pictures, which it is absolutely impossible not to look stoned in) and trying to figure out what electives to take. basically i have to take an elective in part of the university that isnt the school of the arts, so i might be chilling in a lecture with mad undergrads. i could also take a seminar with them, but i feel like i would prob get frustrated being mistaken for an 18 year old, and struggle with holding down teh elitism as i sit there thinking, yale is sooo much better. haha. ok i unfortunetly have to run. please blog back.

Hungover
Thank you John (I will take all of your sarcastic remarks as compliments). I am excited that the blog officially has three members now. I will attribute this to the fact that the rest of you have not started work yet (assholes) and once you do...you will also be bored and wish to start blogging. FYI- I am changing the settings so that only ppl who can write in THE BLOG can read the blog.
on that note you can all hear about my weekend (and if you stop reading now then we arent friends)--->
On friday i went to the very famous chateau bar (next to chateau marmont on the sunset strip where I am sure Lindsay lohan has been caught drugged up on several occasions). Afterwards I headed to the trendy bar/club Winstons, which apparently the week before Entourage had blown up so its now on the verge of being post-cool. I went with an actress so I got to feel cool for the night by partying with her agents and being soaked in champagne and grey goose at a corner table where I am sure people thought I was a VIP having no idea that I make practically no money and couldnt even get hired to work at the club let alone drink for free in it. However, the table going fun ended at 2am- Only to be followed later by hanging out with the staff of Winston's where we scored free drinks until 4 am. How I drove the 1.2 miles home I have no recollection of, but I do remember the valet coming in the club around 3am to ask whose car was left becasue he wanted to go home. You can all guess then that by 4:30 am we were desperately trying to order food from pizza places that were closed, and so upset when we couldnt that we passed out until 11 am the next day when I abruptly awoke to my head pounding, still drunk and now very hungry. Sleeping in the previous nights clothes and then hitting up a french-style brunch spot on Melrose in always a good call...minus smelling like cigarettes and expensive vodka.
This of course led to a saturday full of nothing in which I was too hungover to move...only to be followed by a Saturday night of more drinking with some LA yalies at sean twersky's bday. Being a much calmer evening i was able to hit up malibu on sunday (6 pack of coronas in tow along with subway sandwhiches). By the time we left malibu it was late and we were hungry. Thus we headed back to hollywood where i was introduced to some very good looking actors who did not have to get up and go to work the next day. The hummus was fantastic, the shwarma decent and the chicken kabob was the best (except Mamouns (sp?) is still my favorite)..only to be interupted when one guy at the table (to remain nameless) mistook garlic butter for mashed potatoes and shoved a heaping spoonful into his mouth. We were still laughing an hour later because he looked like he was gonna puke (clearly he didnt go to Yale!!). I then went home and passed out (it was only 10:30pm but lets face it...i have to work on mondays).
So that was my trendy-cool weekend and it made me realize that hollywood is fun...work sucks...and I wish someone would pay me thousands of dollars to be goodlooking and stand in front of a camera. I suppose this may require a lot of make-up, a personal trainer and a smidge of talent, but who knows it could happen:)
I hope you people in Europe, NYC, northern cali, Japan, or whereever the hell you are will take the time to some day write in the blog so we may know all of your adventures. if not then john and i will simply be friends forever and fuck everyone else!

Brussels
Kids,
I'm in Brussels right now, and I don't really feel like writing when I can go grab some fresh monk-brewed beers. I'm doing this mainly to test that this blogging shit works and also because I want to be the 2nd contributor to what will surely become the world's greatest blog. Ever.
Go back to work Taryn. It's difficult working keeping all those celebs in the closet. They need you.
